About OPS-BecomeaPoliceOfficer

According to the Ottawa Police Service's hiring pages, becoming an officer is a competitive process, and recruits are generally hired four times a year in line with the Ontario Police College class schedule.[2] The stages include fitness testing, a panel interview mixing competency-based behavioural and knowledge-based questions, a psychological assessment and a background investigation.[2]

The group's motto, Honour, Courage, Service, matches the values the service lists for itself.[1][3] The Ottawa Police Service has three police divisions and over 2,400 employees, about 1,600 of them police officers, and its stated mission is improving the safety of people, the security of property and quality of life through policing and partnership.[3][4]
