About Check the Course

An independent record of how the price and membership size of online courses and communities change over time.

Check the Course is an independent publication that records how the price and membership size of online courses and communities change over time. We track listings on platforms such as Whop and Skool and present the information neutrally and factually. Our figures come from public pages, almost always each community’s own listing, and we describe communities in plain, factual terms rather than promotional ones.

Who runs it

Check the Course is founded and edited by Alexander Burnett, and operated as a sole trader trading as Alexander Burnett Digital. Alan Phillips advises the project. You can read more about each of us on our author pages.

How we work

Every figure is drawn from a public page, almost always the course’s own listing, and recorded over time, so the data reflects what was actually published, not our opinion. Our methodology explains our sources, how often we update, and the limits of what we can verify. Our editorial policy sets out what we publish and what we won’t. If something is wrong, our corrections process lets you tell us and we will fix it.

Our crawler

The software that reads public listings identifies itself as CheckTheCourseBot, with a link to this page and our email address. It does not log in, it reads only pages the platform’s robots.txt file allows, and it paces itself from one ordinary connection: no faster than one page every 20 seconds on Skool’s directory and Whop’s web pages, one every 15 seconds on Skool community pages, and one every 10 seconds on public channel pages read for follower counts. Whop’s public product API is read at a short fixed interval. If it is causing you a problem, email checkthecourse@gmail.com.

How we make money

Some links to courses may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy. This never changes the figures we record or how a course is described. See our affiliate disclosure.

Terms and privacy

Our terms of use set out what the site is and the limits of what it can tell you. Our privacy policy explains what personal data we handle and how to have information about you corrected or removed.
