Privacy policy
Last updated 8 Oct 2026.
Check the Course is operated by Alexander Burnett, a sole trader trading as “Alexander Burnett Digital”, based in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can contact us at checkthecourse@gmail.com.
This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Information about course and community operators
Check the Course records factual information about online courses and communities that are publicly listed on platforms such as Whop and Skool. This can include the community’s name, the name of the person or business that runs it, its public description, its price, its membership size, publicly shown review information, and how these change over time. Some of this relates to identifiable individuals, for example a creator who runs a community under their own name, so it is personal data.
- Source: each community’s own public listing and other publicly available sources.
- Purpose: to maintain a factual, historical record of the online-course market that is useful to the public.
- Lawful basis: our legitimate interests, and the public’s, in a transparent factual record of a commercial market, balanced against the rights of the people the information concerns.
- We do not knowingly collect special-category data, and we do not use this information to make automated decisions about anyone.
If you run a community and want your information corrected or removed, email checkthecourse@gmail.com or use our corrections process. We will review it and respond. We aim to respond within 7 days.
Information about visitors to this website
- Contact: if you email us or submit a correction or request, we hold your email address and message to respond and to keep a record.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: the pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and how visitors arrived. It sets first-party cookies. Google processes this data under its own terms. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not link it to names or email addresses. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
- Cookies and local storage: besides the analytics cookies above, we use one strictly necessary cookie for the private administrator area of the site, and we store your light or dark theme choice locally in your browser. We set no advertising cookies.
- Affiliate links: some outbound links may be affiliate links. When you click one, the destination platform may set its own cookies, which are governed by their privacy policy, not ours. See our affiliate disclosure.
How long we keep it
We keep the market-record data as an ongoing historical archive, because its value is how the figures change over time. We keep correspondence only as long as we need it to deal with your message and for our records.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We use service providers to run the site: our hosting and file-storage provider (Vercel) and our database provider (Neon). They process data on our behalf under their standard data-protection terms. Google processes analytics data as described above.
Where your data is held
The site and its data are hosted by Vercel and Neon. Our database is held in the United States, so data is processed outside the United Kingdom. That transfer is covered by the standard data-protection safeguards those providers operate under.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, subject to legal limits. To exercise them, email checkthecourse@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
