What the job is
A brand pays you to make content it will post itself, usually short video that looks like a real customer filmed it. You are not posting it and your following is irrelevant, which is the part that makes it different from influencing. You are a supplier making an asset to a brief.
It is also not clipping. A clipper cuts somebody else’s existing material and posts it on their own accounts for campaign money. A UGC creator films original material that the brand runs. Both get called content work and they are different trades with different buyers.
What the rooms sell
- Teaching: how to film, light and script to a brief, and how to price.
- A portfolio process, which is the actual barrier, because brands buy from a reel rather than a promise.
- Introductions or a job board, which varies most from one community to the next.
What it costs
See the clipping and content rewards listings here, with what each charges and how it has moved.
This site files UGC alongside clipping and content rewards, because the listings themselves use the same vocabulary and often sell both. The figures above are for that whole niche, clipping included, so read them as the neighbourhood UGC teaching sits in rather than as UGC alone. Establish which you are buying before you pay, because a campaign list and a portfolio course are not the same product.
No figure here says what UGC work pays. Rates are set per brief and published nowhere we can read.
