The Chorus is the free Skool community of Sing with the Stars, a series of private karaoke nights in Manhattan hosted by Broadway performers.[1] The group was created in February 2026.[1] Sing With the Stars was started by Harry Whelchel, who came up with the idea at a company karaoke night.[2][3]

About The Chorus

Members get interviews with the Broadway performers who host the nights, a course called 'Karaoke with Broadway Stars', a song toolkit, an NYC Karaoke Bar Guide and Broadway Insider Access.[1] The group also gives first word on upcoming nights, whose hosts the listing says come from shows such as Hamilton, Wicked and The Lion King.[1]

According to the series' YouTube channel, each night is held in a private Manhattan karaoke room with roughly a dozen guests and two Broadway hosts, and every guest gets turns singing duets and swapping verses with the performers.[4] Guests pick the songs and sing duets, harmonies and backup with the hosts, Whelchel told FOX 5 NY.[2] Invitations are requested through singwiththestars.com.[4]

In April 2025, local news reports described an earlier format: a free event held on Monday evenings between 6 and 9 p.m. at Baby Grand, a Lower East Side karaoke bar, where an emcee worked alongside a changing pair of Broadway hosts.[3] Guests had to reserve a spot and be 21 or older.[3]
