Matt Arroyo Jiu Jitsu is a Skool community that teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fundamentals and positional strategy to white and blue belts.[1] It is run by Matt Arroyo, a retired UFC fighter, TUF 6 veteran and BJJ black belt under Rob Kahn.[2][3] The group was created on Skool in July 2024, and its pitch is that most white and blue belts need to understand how the techniques fit together rather than learn more of them.[1]

About Matt Arroyo Jiu Jitsu

The curriculum includes the BJJ Jumpstart Blueprint on the strategy of each position, an Intro Curriculum on fundamentals, a Jiu Jitsu Gameplan built on passes, sweeps and submissions, and an Energy Conservation module.[1] Members also get three live calls a month with Arroyo, live breakdowns of the rolling or tournament footage they upload, direct message access and a library of Arroyo's other BJJ courses.[1]

Arroyo has trained since 2003 and competed at ADCC 2015.[3] His YouTube channel says he founded an MMA academy in 2007 and names UFC fighters Billy Quarantillo and Matt Frevola among those he coaches.[2] He also runs a separate Online Academy with live virtual classes, live Q&A sessions and a set of 16 courses, among them the Guillotine Blueprint, the Back Attack Blueprint and Wrist Locks Revealed.[3][4][5] The academy's monthly plan opens 4 of the 16 courses plus one more each month, while the yearly plan opens all 16.[3] Arroyo's site also offers a weekly email with mindset tips, strategies, courses and training videos.[4] In a 2014 interview with Dan Faggella, Arroyo advised beginners to master the basics, starting with just two techniques from each position, and to avoid YouTube for BJJ until at least blue belt.[6]
