About Teachers & Course Creators

Members get advice on marketing and finding students, recommended tech and classroom tools, curriculum and lesson ideas, and simple systems for running the business.[1] The community also carries networking, collaboration and job openings.[1]

Shanahan works under the Independent Teacher Academy name, which is also the title of a YouTube channel about building online teaching and tutoring businesses.[3][4] The channel also points viewers to a Facebook group, and an Independent Teacher Academy Podcast episode featured an interview about the Abridge Academy curriculum.[3][4] Shanahan's paid program is the Teacher Boss Society.[2][5] Shanahan's site says the business started out placing teachers in jobs with companies, and that it rejects a one-size-fits-all approach to online teaching.[5]
