About Cob & Natural Building School

The group covers building with soil, straw and hemp, including cob, adobe, rammed earth, strawbale, straw-clay and hempcrete, and building these homes with permits and within building codes.[1] The group also has a 50-state US guide to finding land for alternative building and a property purchase checklist for alternative homes.[1] It is aimed at builders at every level, from do-it-yourself builders and aspiring homesteaders to contractors, architects, engineers and home remodelers, and it opens with a seven-day free trial.[1]

This Cob House LLC consults on and teaches earth masonry techniques such as cob, rammed earth and adobe block, and Sumerall has practised earth masonry since 2011.[2] The business runs hands-on classes and online courses, consults for architects and engineers, and offers a free cob building eBook.[3] As of September 2026, a one-to-one consulting call with Sumerall cost $75 for 30 minutes or $130 for 60 minutes.[4]
