Beyond the surface is a Skool community for people trying to break into commercial diving, ROV, NDT and other offshore careers, and for offshore workers after practical guidance.[1] Created in September 2025, it is run by Stu Sutcliffe, who also hosts a weekly podcast and YouTube channel called Beyond the Surface.[1][2] Sutcliffe describes more than 20 years offshore, starting as a commercial diver and moving through ropes work and NDT to his current role as a client rep.[1][3]

About Beyond the surface

Members get mock exams for the 3.1U, 3.2U, 3.4U and ACFM qualifications, training tools and calculators, CV builders for offshore jobs, and answers from people already working offshore.[1] The ACFM questions deal with the theory of the technique, reading signals and writing reports.[3]

The wider Beyond the Surface Offshore platform pairs the community with the podcast and training tools, and points newcomers to the community first, then the podcast, then the tools.[3]
