A review on the numbers, not an opinion: nobody here has joined Strum Bowing Groove Academy, and nothing below is a verdict.

Strum Bowing Groove Academy teaches violin, viola, cello and bass players to groove in styles from rock, jazz and funk to hip hop, Latin and fiddle.[1] It was founded by Tracy Silverman, an electric violinist and composer who plays a six-string electric violin and wrote The Strum Bowing Method: How to Groove on Strings.[1][2][3] The Skool group was created in December 2025 and includes a free course.[1]

About Strum Bowing Groove Academy

Lessons cover the Strum Bowing technique of chopping and ghosting, plus improvisation with chord charts, comping and soloing.[1] The academy lists over 13 video courses, downloadable method and etude books, play-along and demonstration tracks, and live sessions and masterclasses.[1] Its website names courses such as Strum Bowing Essentials and The Secret to Improvisation, and adds private lessons with an instructor or with Silverman on higher membership tiers.[3]

Silverman also runs Strum Bowing workshops, from a one-hour Zoom session with a school orchestra to a week-long residency ending in a concert, and offers 22 Groove Studies for Strings.[4] The Skool owner account belongs to someone who also runs BookLive, a gig management platform for musicians.[1][5]
