About Playback Community
Members get bonus clips, tabs and gear breakdowns from the show's guests, resources tied to each episode, and what the group describes as a growing archive of licks, exercises and practice tips.[1] The group is also a place to connect with other guitarists, share progress and trade ideas between episodes.[1]
Carter Vintage Guitars announced PlayBack as a new channel made in partnership with Sonora in Nashville, Tennessee, after Spencer Handley, the chief executive of Sonora, approached the shop to collaborate.[3] The announcement, written by Carter Vintage chief executive Ben Montague, describes a show about the stories behind songs and the techniques behind tones, with weekly conversations and sessions featuring guitarists, songwriters, producers and mentors.[3] The first episode included a performance by Billy Strings and Robb Cappelletto, recorded live at Carter Vintage.[3] Sonora is a guitar education company whose Sonora Core Program is a 3 to 12 month intensive with lifetime access to the Core curriculum and its learning software, plus four group classes a week.[4] Sonora also runs a twelve-week Beginner Bootcamp that prepares students for the Core Program, and Core enrolment is by application.[4]
