About Lessons in Self Publishing

In 2021 Marietta founded Books & Things Publishing, an independent press for underrepresented authors.[2] The press handles fiction, non-fiction, young adult, middle grade and children's titles, and sells editing and proofreading to its own authors and to writers publishing on their own.[3] She started it to release her own books, beginning with The Holly-day After and Mr. Maloof, and later added author coaching, launch packages and publishing services for other indie writers.[2][4] As of September 2026, the press's site offered a six-week publishing mentorship, run as weekly Google Meet sessions.[5] On a podcast, Marietta said she spends time explaining how self-publishing, hybrid publishing and traditional publishing differ.[6]
