About Tempo

Tempo started as a visual editor for React in which product managers, designers and engineers work on code together, with the feel of a design tool and an IDE underneath.^[1] A second version added a Figma plugin, AI reasoning with Gemini Search, prebuilt SaaS templates for services such as Stripe, Supabase and Convex with Clerk, and Expo support for React Native mobile apps.^[1] The company's site calls it an AI software factory for product teams, in which AI agents turn customer feedback, issues and requirements into reviewed pull requests while the team signs off on key decisions.^[3]

Tempo was founded in 2023, is based in Toronto and went through Y Combinator's Summer 2023 batch.^[1]^[4] Its founders, Kevin and Peter, previously worked at Microsoft, Google and Perpetua.^[1] The company's YouTube channel runs under the tagline Design with Code.^[4]
