About Tari Universe

Tari Universe itself is Tari's desktop app for mining the Tari token on Mac or PC.[2][3] Anyone can inspect and use the code of the app and of all other software tied to the Tari protocol.[2] Tari presents the protocol as proof of work and confidential by default.[2] According to Decrypt, the mining software uses a hybrid model that mines half of its blocks on Tari and half through merge mining on Monero.[3]

Decrypt described the team behind Tari as a group of former Monero developers, including core contributor Riccardo Spagni, and covered the testnet launch of the Tari Universe desktop application.[3] Tari's site names Blockchain Capital, Pantera, Trinity, Redpoint and Slow Ventures among its investors, and says a Layer 2 called the Ootle is due to launch.[2]
