Gates is also founder and CEO of Spartan Trades, a stocks and options trading community that invites both beginners and experienced traders to trade live with the group.^[3] Spartan Trades describes its method as support and resistance combined with price action, used to build watchlists, and gives members a set list of rules to follow.^[3] In a profile on the Shoutout SoCal site, Gates said he teaches his strategies to clients through week-long training programs and a chat room where members trade with him live every day.^[4] The same profile stresses journaling, recording every trade so the data can be reviewed over time.^[4]

The Spartan Trades disclaimer states that trading options, futures and securities has large potential rewards but also a large potential risk, and tells readers not to trade with money they can't afford to lose.^[5] It says everything on the site, and any product bought there, is meant only for education and research rather than as financial advice, and that how a trading system or method has performed in the past does not necessarily indicate how it will perform in future.^[5] Members who share insider information in the room have their membership with Spartan Trades LLC terminated immediately with no refund.^[5]
