About Self Publishers Unite!

The group focuses on finishing a manuscript: overcoming writer's block, staying accountable, and getting encouragement from concept to the final page.^[1] Members also learn to structure, revise and prepare a manuscript for release, with marketing treated as something that starts from the finished book.^[1]

Brown's fiction includes the Locket Saga, whose ninth book is The War for the Rose of Dobbins Landing.^[2]^[3] In 2013 she published her first nonfiction book, Simply Vegetable Gardening, and her most recent is Write a Book and Ignite Your Business.^[2] Brown also edits and proofreads other writers' manuscripts, helps beginning writers set up author platforms, and works as a teacher and speaker.^[2] In 2023 she founded a business, Ozark Grannies' Secrets, and she has written for Mother Earth News magazine and for online outlets including eHow and Hubpages.^[2] A YouTube channel tied to the community covers self-publishing as a business, including the Amazon KDP algorithm, and sets itself against traditional publishing gatekeeping.^[4]
