About Practical Philosophy

The community states that it is not affiliated with any political party, religion or ideology and does not promote a single worldview, and that its discussions are exploratory rather than persuasive.[1] Its stated purpose is to build critical thinking, communication and community through respectful dialogue, and to make philosophical discussion accessible.[1]

Practical Philosophy also hosts weekly in-person meetups at chapters around the world, with a mission of building a global community of critical thinkers who approach the world non-dogmatically.[2] People who want to run a chapter can get support from its head office, help bringing people to their meetup, and leadership and communication development.[2] Its donors help pay for meeting spaces, facilitator development and new chapters.[2] The organisation has published a book, Practical Philosophy: Anatomy of a Yap Session, and offers workshops for businesses.[2][3] Its YouTube channel presents its content as thought experiments that do not necessarily represent the views of Practical Philosophy.[3]

Practical Philosophy's site states that it is a registered Canadian charity, with charity number 743660755 RR 0001.[2]
