About FREE Legal Nurse INFO
The group feeds into the CLFN program run by ILNFS (Institute for Legal Nursing and Forensic Science), which Janice Dolnick (Jan Marie) founded.[2][3] Through ILNFS, she trains registered nurses to review medical records, pick out the main medical issues and assist attorneys on plaintiff and defense cases alike.[3] The program is self-paced and work-from-home, grounded in actual casework for attorneys, and has been running since 2015.[2] It starts with a grounding in legal strategic thinking and forensic fluency, then has students take 3 real cases through from beginning to end with guidance on reports and written feedback, and adds templates and scripts, unlimited 1:1 mentoring, live workshops, a private CLFN community and training in reaching out to attorneys.[2] The CLFN program is listed with California's Board of Registered Nursing as a CE provider for 47 continuing education credits.[2]
The program states that it is not SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) work or traditional bedside nursing.[2] Dolnick also wrote Building the Defense.[2]
