About Jazz Skool

Members from around the world meet in regular Zoom sessions to get questions answered and work through modules on jazz education and improving their playing.[1] The group also holds the materials that go with the YouTube videos and podcast episodes: the podcast site directs listeners to Jazz Skool, where monthly donors get the resources for each episode.[1][4]

The podcast was started to give jazz students instruction on playing and improvising, and its YouTube channel publishes weekly episodes with audio examples and downloadable PDFs.[2][5] Episode 520, for example, covers tritone substitutions over "There Will Never Be Another You".[4] The podcast materials are offered at no cost, with donations invited.[2] Mainella's music site lists a YouTube channel with free weekly lessons, eBooks and video courses, and calls The Jazz Intensive, a mentorship community that meets live every week, the flagship program.[3] The podcast site offers one-to-one work through The Jazz Intensive and states that Mainella has been a professional saxophonist and educator since 2002.[2][4]
