About Astronomy Club

The Astronomy Club Classroom holds an astronomy course on the night sky, and members also get telescope and gear advice, a book club joined by the astronaut Dr. Sian Proctor, and astronomy challenges pitched at all skill levels.[1] Its weekly live hangout, Space Happy Hour, is held every Thursday as an informal conversation about telescopes, observing and space exploration.[1] The Learn To Stargaze site says the club holds live sessions three times a week for telescope and stargazing questions, and the YouTube channel, which teaches how to use and choose a telescope, sends viewers to the club for college-level astronomy classes at no cost.[4][5]

Read is a writer, astronomer and YouTuber who founded Stargaze Nova Scotia and leads the Abbey Ridge Observatory Association as its executive director.[2] His site says he has published twenty space-themed books, starting with 50 Things to See with a Small Telescope and including 50 Things to See on the Moon, written with David M. F. Chapman.[2] As of September 2026, his beginner telescope guidebook, which lists over 250 targets, cost $34.95 plus $7.99 shipping.[4] The site also carries information on visiting the Abbey Ridge Observatory.[3]
